The Boston Imperials today announced the hiring of Shawn Hutcheon as their Tier 1 Director. Shawn will be responsible for constructing and managing the 14U, 15U, 16U and 18U Tier 1 teams for the 2022 Season.
"We are very excited to have someone of Shawn's pedigree in our program", said Dennis Franczak, Managing partner. "With Frank [Golden] leaving for other opportunities, I wanted to take it as an opportunity to build upon and improve our Tier 1 product and my partners Nate Bostic and Scott Fitzgerald led the search to find someone who not only can identify and recruit top talent, but someone who is a good human being and can relate to what today's top players need. Shawn's background in winning National Championships and working with high end players in his advising company is a great fit."
"I am excited to jump in help lead the Imperials to success on the National stage. This is a professionally run organization that has found a great league situation (E9) and a home rink Somerville that will provide the foundation for high-end Tier 1 fall hockey." noted Hutcheon. "In a short-time the Imperials have built a quality organization and my job is to help take it to the next level."
Hutcheon has an extensive background and experience that he will bring to the Imperials. Currently owner at High End Hockey Advising, Shawn has an extensive background in hockey as a player, coach, referee, journalist, and family advisor. On the ice, he rose through the ranks to become a member of NCAA Division 3 Fitchburg State University where he patrolled the blue line as a defenseman. Shawn has coached since 1991 and has helped guide over 100 players to successful NCAA and/or professional careers. He has also won various championships including Massachusetts state championships at the 16U and 18U levels.
In 2013, he was an assistant coach with the USA Hockey national champion Neponset Valley River Rats 18U Tier 1 team. Shawn wore the striped sweater as a USA Hockey, NIHOA, and IIHF referee and linesman for 25 years. Off the ice, Shawn covers the Boston Bruins as the Boston Correspondent for The Fourth Period Magazine and is a member of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. All of this experience has allowed Shawn to establish strong relationships with coaches and scouts at all levels of the game. It is those relationships that enable him, as a family advisor, to place players where they will be the most successful on the ice and in the classroom.
The Boston Imperials are a USA Hockey Sanctioned Hockey Club headquartered in Winchester, MA with a National Tier 1 Academy Program at Matignon High School as well as fall Tier 1 and Tier 2 National Bound Boys and Girls teams at the U14-U19 Levels.
