October 16, 2019 – Winchester, MA
The Boston Imperials today announced the appointment of Frank Golden as General Manager of the club. He will work with club ownership and board to oversee all hockey operations including coaching hiring and development, player development, and family assistance for the coming season.
Golden joins the Imperials after a long career in junior, high school, and youth hockey with a number of organizations in the area. He also currently serves as an NHL scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins, a position he has held since 2014. During that time the Penguins have won 2 Stanley Cups. He also is currently Chief Assessor, City of Somerville, MA.
“I am excited to get to work with Frank on the 2020 season as we have many initiatives on the horizon and I’m excited about his ideas for making our program the premier midget offering north of Boston. Frank came highly recommended by my board and he and I are aligned on the vision we have for the Boston Imperials” commented club owner Dennis Franczak.
Golden’s appointment is the latest in a series of recent personnel moves by the club. In the last month they have hired Bruins scout Scott Fizgerald and former Central Catholic coach Kim Brandvold to their board. In September, the club hired Chris Kuchar, Boys Head Coach at Malden Catholic and Matignon’s Head Coach, Derek Edgerly.
Founded this year in 2019, the Boston Imperials are a provisional member of the BEAST Series and also members in the New England Premier Hockey League. In 2020, they will offer National Bound U18, U16, U15, and U14 teams at the BEAST/PREP, Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels. For more information, visit www.bostonimperials.com
